Here a Yogi’s control of mind is described. How to control the mind and keep control over sense organs ? If a man says, I want to avoid such and such “bad thought”.The “bad thought” brings in the picture or mental image of that in the mind.If one tells a child “Dont keep the room untidy”, the picture of Untidy remains in it’s mind.Instead if one says ” Keep your room clean”, the “clean” picture takes root.So Lord Krishna is here asking to Substitute a positive thought to control negative thoughts. So meditation on God, instils a positive thought and when this idea firmly gets rooted in the mind, the negative thoughts go away by themselves.
