CHAPTER 4-14

4-14

When one says that ” I did it”, “I want this”, etc they are modifications of the mind and one gets attached to the fruits of the Karma good or bad.But Lord Krishna says that since he has no desire for the fruits of action, it’s fruits also do not taint him. When one can work for the sake of work and not for the fruits there of, one can become free from bondage this very moment.Imagine two students studying in a class of physics,One student studies his subject for the love of the subject and the other one instead of reading the text book prepares only for the exam by reading previous years question papers. The student studying with previous years question papers may get more marks but has not mastered his subject so may fail in his work at a later stage when he has to apply the laws of physics in his real time work,The one who has mastered the subject will definitely l get good marks and will also be able to apply the laws of physics when the time comes.

Another example can be that of a 3D movie. When you see the car rushing at you in the movie, your heartbeats rise. But if you close your eyes for a moment, you realise that you are not in the movie and your heartbeat regains normalcy.Same is the case in this world. When we attach to our body, mind etc, we get tainted by the suffering and happiness experienced through the body and mind.So if you realise that you are not the body and mind, then you can be free from fruits of actions.
