Lord Krishna tells the way to control the desires. He says control of desire should start at the level of senses.e.g let us say a man is on diet to reduce his weight, so such a person should stop watching cooking shows.Because if he watches cooking shows on TV his desire to eat may increase.Similarly, a man who knows that his weakness is anger, should first stop shouting or abusing when he is angry, because anger first expresses through the tongue.Anger will arise, but he should impose self restraint and when it calms down he will find that he was foolish to have got angry.Similarly exercise restraint for all senses.Once the enemy, in this case desire, is attacked at the external or gross level, it will run at a deeper level i.e mind and intellect. In the next verse Lord Krishna tells how to vanquish it at deeper levels.

If desire is allowed entry, then it envelopes knowledge and wisdom.”Knowledge” or Jnana is that which we acquire through a book or from a wise person, but “wisdom” is when we apply those principles and have our own experiences. At this stage the knowledge becomes our own and is called wisdom.Desire is dangerous and is capable of enveloping both knowledge and wisdom.
